Auction house

Buy-it-now trading with other players - 10% tax, 48 hours, 10 listings.

How it works

/ah opens the auction house. It is a buy-it-now board: things are listed at a price, and someone either pays it or does not. There are no timed bids and no sniping.

Listing tax 10% of the sale price
Duration 48 hours
Listings per player 10
Bidding none — buy it now

Commands

Command What it does
/ah Browse. Click to buy
/ah sell List the item you are holding
/ah mine Your listings — click one to cancel
/ah collect Collect money from sales and items from expired listings

/ah collect is where your money is. A sale does not push money into your balance; it parks it until you collect. If you have sold something and cannot find the money, that is where it is.

Why there are no bidding auctions

A bidding auction has to close at a deadline, and closing a listing means touching the world it is in. On this server that means owning the region of every listing that expires — most of which have nobody standing in them. So listings are checked when somebody looks at them instead: if your auction's time ran out, the next time the board is opened it moves to expired and the item goes back to you.

The practical effect is that an expired listing may sit for a while showing as live until someone opens the board. It will not sell after its 48 hours.

The tax, and why

10% comes off the sale price when the buyer pays. It is the sink that keeps the economy from inflating: money enters from quests, jobs and shop sales, and the tax is one of the few places it leaves.

If that feels steep, trade directly — player-to-player trades have no tax at all.

Tips that are actually useful

  • Check what the NPC shop charges before you list. If the shop sells it cheaper than you are asking, nobody is buying yours.
  • Stack, don't scatter. A stack of 64 at a fair price moves; sixteen single items do not.
  • Ten listings is the cap, and it is per player, not per item type. Choose what you list.
  • Cancelling is free — the item comes back to /ah collect. Tax is only charged on a completed sale.
