Skyblock islands

A private void island per player, the one place you can build, and the border upgrades.

Your island

/island takes you to your island: a small platform in a void world, yours, and the only place on Elderian where you can place and break blocks.

The starter island is free.

Why an island, if survival has no building

Because survival is explore-and-fight terrain, and that leaves nowhere to put a farm, a storage room or a base. The island is that place. It does not replace survival — it is where you keep things.

The border

Your island has a border. 32 blocks across to start, and upgrades cost money:

Size Cost
32 free
64 $25,000
96 $100,000
128 $400,000
192 $1,500,000
256 $5,000,000

The border is the distance across the island, centred on the middle, so 32 is about 16 blocks of radius. You cannot walk past it — the server stops you, so you cannot fall into the void by accident.

The cobblestone generator

The island's generator does not just make cobblestone. Lava meeting water rolls from a weighted table, so what forms in front of you can be ore.

The table is level-gated. Ores you cannot mine yet are dropped from the roll entirely, so you will never get a diamond you have to throw away. The roll uses the same requirements the rest of the server uses for mining, so what your generator produces and what your pickaxe accepts always agree.

Cobblestone is in the table on purpose — roughly half the outcomes. The first version of this treated cobblestone as "no ore found", which meant raising the ore rate quietly starved players of the stone tools and furnaces they needed to work the island at all. Making it an ordinary result decoupled the two.

Members and permissions

/island invite and /island accept add someone to your island. /island kick, /island members and /island leave are the rest.

Members start with no permissions — not read-only, nothing. You grant what you want to grant:

/island perms toggles build, interact, invite, upgrade and settings for everyone on the island.

That is deliberate. An empty permission set looks like a broken island, so the invite message says out loud that you will need to grant build rights.

/island settings is the owner's menu:

  • Mob spawning — on or off, per island.
  • Island time — a per-player display time, so it is yours to look at. It does not change the world clock, and mobs still spawn by the real time.
  • Weather — not offered. Rain is a world state, and vanilla has no per-player weather. Rather than ship a toggle that does nothing, there is no toggle.
