Leaderboards and holograms
The three boards in town, what each one counts, and how they update.
Three boards
In the town there are three holograms side by side, each showing a top ten:
| Board | Counts |
|---|---|
| Baltop | Money on hand |
| Boss kills | Bosses killed, all time |
| Levels | The primary class level |
How they update
The text refreshes on a short timer, but only for players who are close enough — about 32 blocks. Walk up and it updates; stand at the far side of town and it may still be showing what it showed a minute ago.
That is a deliberate compromise rather than a fault: it means the boards do no work for somebody on the other side of the map.
What counts, and what does not
Boss kills come from an actual kill by a player. Roaming creatures do not count — they are not bosses. A boss that dies without a killer does not count either, so a staff cleanup is not a score.
The counter started at zero. There is no history behind it — the old server's kill data was never recorded in a form that could be read back — so the person at the top is simply the person who has killed the most since the board went up.
Levels ranks every player the server knows about by their primary class level. Anyone resolving to zero is left off, so the board is not padded with people who have never picked a class.
Baltop is the server's own money board, and needs no explanation.
Getting on a board
- Baltop — sell things. See Money and the economy.
- Boss kills — go and kill bosses. The region bosses are on a 30-minute timer and are the reliable route; see Bosses.
- Levels — level a class. See Classes for the fastest routes, which are daily quests and the bounty board.
