The pull

This is what parties are actually for.

A hidden boss rolls rarely, and whoever walks into one is alone. They are tuned for a group — the top of the range has more than two thousand health — so meeting one by yourself is usually a death.

So when a party member comes within about 24 blocks of a live hidden boss, the whole party is moved to that boss's arena, including whoever found it. One person's bad luck becomes everyone's fight.

  • There is a 60-second cooldown between pulls, so two hidden bosses near each other cannot yank the same party twice.
  • Boss followers do not count as hidden bosses. The Pharaoh's Sphinx is part of the Pharaoh encounter, so it does not trigger a second pull.
  • A hidden boss with no arena set still pulls — to the boss itself — and says so in the log. Doing nothing would be indistinguishable from no boss spawning at all.

What a pull is not

It is not a teleport request and it does not ask. If you are in a party and someone finds a hidden boss, you are going. That is worth knowing before you join one while carrying something you would rather not lose — see the death penalty for what a death costs.

Parties are per-session

Parties are held in memory, so a restart clears them. If the server restarts while you are grouped, re-invite. This is deliberate: the alternative is stale parties nobody can leave.
